Tips for inviting:

When inviting is done intentionally and thoughtfully, it is truly an art. An opportunity to hone a craft, creating connection, beauty, and value. We can view it as a chore or view it as a way to express our care, see people, and touch the lives of others!

How many of us see inviting purely as a way that we can ask someone to attend an event and that the only good outcome is them saying yes and attending? It's easy to feel that way! However, there are many incredible outcomes to inviting someone that don't even require them attending or responding to your invitation!!

Some of the many growth possibilities. The person you invited sees your invitation and:

  • Feels thought of and cared for, building trust
  • Opens the door to a conversation about anything that builds connection
  • Remembers that they intended to order from you and used a link you've sent before
  • Remembers to ask you about a problem or question that has kept her from ordering
  • Thinks about oils and goes and applies, diffuses, or takes a supplement
  • Remembers to check Loyalty order or purchase something
  • Asks to meet you for a one on one
  • Can't attend but asks to be invited later or for a recording link
  • Can't attend but tells a friend about the event she was invited to
  • Can't attend but asks if you could host the same event for her and her friends
  • Can't attend but starts to think about how you share and gets curious about the business
  • Attends and enjoys
  • Attends and finds a new favorite product
  • Attends and meets a new friend
  • Attends and enrolls
  • Attends and joins Loyalty
  • Attends and brings a friend
  • Attends and books a class
  • Attends and decides to share
  • Because of you, feels lighter, more hopeful, more seen, more heard, and more served

And that's not even close to all of the possibilities. Simply because you reached out and invited. But how we invite makes all the difference. I'll use examples where you're being invited to something outside of oils that you may or may not already be interested in.

Sarah is selling a great water purifier. She posts on Facebook and says, “Hey, friends! I'm selling a top of the line water purifier! Come tomorrow night, hear all about it, and support my small business!” Odds of you hiring a babysitter, pulling the real pants out of the back of the closet, and preparing to make small talk with strangers because of this invitation? Slim to none unless you just REALLY already wanted to buy a water purifier or she's your best friend. It's about her, her product, impersonal, and leaves you with lots of questions.

Now, what if Susan posted or emailed and said, “Hey, friends! We've recently found so many benefits from using purified water in our home! I can't believe the changes I've seen in just a few months such as XYZ. I'm hosting a fun gathering where you can taste the difference and hear more about what clean water can do for your family, pets, and home tomorrow night. Would love to have you join us!” Getting better, right? Notice how you're response is immediately a little different? You see benefits for you, hear the authenticity of her personal experience, and see a specific reason to go so you can try the water out for yourself.

Now, let's say that Sarah sends a private voice message, text, or calls and says, “Hi, Courtney! I know we were talking the other day about your youngest and some of the skin issues you're seeing. We've seen a big change since we started bathing our kids in water filtered through our purifier. I'm having a gathering tomorrow night to chat through the benefits we've seen, let you try the water, and chat with others working to solve our health mysteries. 😅 I have some friends coming that I would love for you to meet! Come comfy, and let's enjoy some uninterrupted girl time! 🙌🏻

Now, how do you feel? Even if you can't go, you feel thought of, curious, and sure of the goals of the event. Small tweaks make a huge difference.

When we make the goal of our inviting true connection with another individual we change the whole story around how we feel about our ask and how they feel about responding! Use invitations to open doors and let the other person decide how to walk through!

These tips are simple, effective, and can make a big difference in your class attendance!
